Volunteers have several options to partner with the YMCA of the North to impact the communities we serve. By serving on a Community Council, Mission Impact Advisory Council, or Project Team you can influence what we do to serve community and how we do it.
Community Councils are led by program leaders and comprised of a group of dedicated volunteers who serve with Y leaders to sustain and grow our impact and meet community needs. The Community Councils meet several times throughout the year to provide insight into their community and oversee project development through the activation of volunteers and resources at the YMCA of the North.
Project Teams: A project is a temporary endeavor with a start and finish undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result. Community Councils identify projects for their community and the Project Teams make them happen. These short-term teams dissolve after the projects are complete. Examples may include hosting a wellness fair or a food drive at a branch or assisting in the creation of a presentation to law makers.
The Mission Impact Advisory Council is led by Associate Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents and comprised of representatives from several Community Councils as well as Subject Matter Experts who meet to research, discuss, and provide best practices and recommendations to Community Councils to address specific community needs via project work.
