Wills, trusts, IRAs and endowment gifts
Include a gift to the Y in your Will or Trust.
IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions
To make an IRA gift:
- Donors must be minimum of 70.5 years of age or older to begin making Qualified Charitable Distributions.
- Gifts must be made directly from the IRA to an eligible charitable organization.
- Gifts to all charities combined cannot exceed a total of $100,000 per taxpayer for the year.
Benefits of an IRA gift:
- The gift counts towards the Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
- The gift is not included in taxable income.
- You help support your community and programs that are valuable to you.
Donor-advised fund gifts
- Support the branch, camp or program you love with a gift from your donor advised fund. Direct your gift to: YMCA of the North, Tax ID # 45-2563299.
- Mail to: YMCA of the North, NW 5901, P.O. Box 1450, Minneapolis, MN 55485-5901.
- Please designate your favorite site or program in the memo line or in separate correspondence and ensure that your name is also included with your check, check stub or cover letter.
- It is important to remember that donor advised fund gifts have some restrictions. Please consult your financial or tax advisor. The Y is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your gift is tax-deductible as allowed by law.
- Name the YMCA as a beneficiary of your donor advised fund to create a meaningful legacy.
Establish a named endowment or make a legacy gift to support the YMCA’s endowment.
Charitable Gift Annuity
To make a gift that pays a fixed income for life:
- Donors must be a minimum of 70 years of age or older.
- The gift value must be at least $100,000 for the YMCA to fund a charitable gift annuity. In return, the Y pays you (or up to two people you choose) a fixed annual amount for life.
- Each CGA will be governed by a written agreement between the donor and YMCA.
Benefits of a CGA gift:
- You will receive an income tax deduction for a portion of the gift, and a part of each annuity payment is tax-free.
- Your gift provides a sustainable source of support to the Y community most important to you.
