YMCA Collaborates with UnitedHealthcare to Provide 2,500 Household Kits for Those in Need jeffrey.needham Mon, 11/29/2021 - 08:54

Minneapolis, MN – The YMCA of the North, a leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, is partnering with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) to distribute 2,500 household kits for people in need in the community.

UHC donated household kits of essential items such as dish soap, sponges, toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissue and napkins to the YMCA to provide participants in Y programs including Neighborhood Centers, New American Welcome Centers and Youth and Family Services.

“The YMCA is committed with its volunteers and partners to serve hundreds of thousands of people a day who need a helping hand in our community,” said Glen Gunderson, president of the Y. “The Y is grateful for UnitedHealthcare donating much needed essential items to help families with their wellbeing needs.”

The YMCA of the North and Every Meal are again teaming up to distribute food bags (meals) to the community during the winter. From November 19 through January 3, Ys will have meals at the YMCA entrance available to be picked up for free for those that are in need.

Families may pick up food during open hours Monday through Friday at select YMCAs and choose a food bag non-perishable meal package. Meals are currently available at the Y locations listed below. For more information, visit: https://www.ymcanorth.org/food-distribution. There have been 1,378,757 meals given out March 2020 through 2021 at Ys with community partners to serve neighbors in need.

Minneapolis, MN – The YMCA of the North, a leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, is selling Christmas trees starting on Friday, November 26.

For over 75 years, Y Service Clubs have been selling Christmas trees. The Midway Y is selling trees to raise money for youth in the community to participate in Y programs and camps.

“The YMCA is committed to removing barriers that may prevent kids and teens in our community from participating in enriching programs and camps,” said Glen Gunderson, president of the Y. “The Tree Lots are an annual tradition that help raise funds so all youth have opportunities to participate in meaningful activities that can inspire their future goals and help them reach their potential.”
